Small Batch Handmade with Deliberate Design

Creative Life Process

About My Process/ Work / Life

I believe in small batch production.

Every  day I am designing, making, packing and shipping my thought filled work. I love the maker’s life and am constantly looking for ways to be more connected to the people in my community  who make.

I support small independent businesses who work hard to do what they  love. You will find me in the studio every day sewing, making, designing  and sharing our experience via instagram.

So proud to be celebrating 10 Years of small batch production!  Yowza!  I am so grateful for ALL of the amazing support, kind words, and positive feedback y'all have sent my hard working company.  I'm blushing over here!

My work attempts to explore the connections between people and their  environment, serving both a utilitarian purpose and as an aesthetic  means to open everyone to the beauty of their environment.

I want to  explore individual connection to home and nature by creating vessels and  drawing images that evoke an emotional response and also explore how  public art invites people to deepen their connection to one another and  to their sense of place and home.

My work has multiple directions: functional ceramics, print making,  tote bags, and photography. For the last ten years my primary work has  been that of a studio artist.

I use imperfections in form as evidence of  human vulnerability to awaken the user to the imperfect perfection in  everyday domestic existence. The drawings heighten the connection of the  user to the vessel.

Founded in early 2008 in Chicago, Illinois, on principles of small batch production, quality design and utilitarian function. Currently headquartered in  Savannah, Ga.

Retrofied  is a multidisciplinary studio that emphasizes natural handmade materials and small production pieces.  Water soluable inks and organic linens combine to make a long lasting tote with small impact on our beautiful earth.

The past decades growth from simply designing and making the bags, to creating my own tote bag patterns, designing and printing my own fabrics and incorporating them into thoughtfully designed totes. I design with understated minimalism, clean lines and classic uniform style in mind.

I have worked hard to establish a business that is always looking to improve and grow. Currently exploring pattern and image in my textiles, utilitarian ceramics and sculptures.
